Gilbert Habla

Chairman

Gilbert has more than 45 years experience in the brick industry.Gilbert has been a brickwork owner and has built and commercially operated Habla Zig-Zag technology with his father Alois Habla, the inventor of the technology.

He has comprehensive, “hands on” experience including kiln design, kiln construction, mechanical installation, commissioning of technology, modification, operation, and maintenance of brick plants. He has worked in a range of kilns from Clamp and Hoffman to Tunnel Kilns.

Gilbert is internationally acknowledged for his expertise within the industry, especially in Asia and was appointed as independent consultant to UNIDO for the international brick industry. He regularly visits kiln sites and is consulted by a range of international agencies and NGO’s on the issues of the brick industry in developing countries.

Peter Habla

Managing Director

Peter has a background in Project Management and Project Delivery. Prior to joining the team at HZZKI, Peter worked for an international construction company as an engineer on large infrastructure and construction projects. Peter’s experiences include work in the oil and gas industry (LNG), road infrastructure upgrades and greenfield road construction, design management on large CBD public open space developments. Further to Peter’s construction experience, he has spent time Procuring construction materials in Asia. 

Anil Bhatta

Technology Transfer Consultant and Advisor

Anil is an Engineer with over a decade of experience in clean energy and carbon markets, having previously worked as International Head of CDM Projects and head of carbon advisory firm in Australia. Anil has significant experience in the brick sector and has led the transfer of energy efficient brick making technologies, including Vertical Shaft Brick Kiln (VSBK) in Asia and Africa.

His experience in clean energy and carbon markets includes, advisory work for donors and non-government organisations, multinational companies, financial institutions and banks in the European Union Emission Trading Scheme (EUETS) and emerging carbon markets in Australia, Asia, Africa and Latin America. Anil has dual Masters Degrees in Engineering in Sustainable Energy and Engineering Management.

Darrell Reeve

Environment Consultant and Advisor

With formal qualifications in Applied Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Production Management and Metal Finishing, Darrell has had 45 years of industrial consultancy experience.

He is a consultant to UNEP and UNIDO and a board member of APRSCP (Asia Pacific Roundtable for Consumption and Production).
He is environmental consultant to the Aust Inst of Surface Finishing and Int Editor of Surface Finishing Journal China.
Darrell is an associate of Victoria University (Inst for Sustainability and Innovation).
He has supported and promoted Habla Kiln Technology for over 23 years.

David Skelton

Business Consultant and Advisor

David has extensive experience in business development, general management, and finance functions, in listed and private companies - mature and early stage. Previous roles include Finance Director of PMP Ltd, CFO Seven Network Ltd, COO Fairfax Regional Newspapers, General Manager of the Age newspaper, and Managing Director of Blaze International Ltd. David is currently the principal of Marvern Solutions Pty Ltd. He describes himself as a mentor, business advisor and investor.

David’s formal qualifications include Fellow CPA, Fellow Institute Company Directors, Bachelor of Economics from Sydney University and Graduate Diploma in Finance from University of Technology Sydney. 

Janie Habla

Director

Janie is an experienced Senior Allied Health Professional, she has had lifelong involvement in Europe and developing countries. She has travelled extensively throughout Africa, the Middle East and Asia and maintains her 30 year association with the brick industry by regular visits to brick kilns, most recently to Nepal, Bangladesh and South Africa.

Janie has worked in remote indigenous communities and in educational, hospital and rehabilitation settings. Her experience provides a strong background when advocating for significant workplace change in the current lives of children and brick kiln workers in developing countries.
